Can I swap an engine for a MB 2002 S430 with another S430 without having to reprogram the ECM

Yes. The engines are not part of anything that's coded. I have taken an engine from my old 2001 E430 Sport and put in into my current 2005 S430 4Matic. No reprogramming needed at all.

I only needed to change the upper & lower oil pans, wiring harness, exhaust manifolds and the engine mounts....not super difficult at all, just time consuming.
