How do I check the transmission fluid level?
I searched about this topic but did not get any clear answer. I have a 2006 S500 7 speed with NO transmission dipstick tube. All I see is a big black round rubber cap on top of the transmission (i guess that this is where the transmission dipstick tube was supposed to be?). How do I check for the transmission fluid level? All instructions i see so far are showing cars WITH the tube. Thanks

If accurate, it's just like my new Tundra - a standpipe determines fluid level. You must do the checking at a specified temperature range, and you're looking for a flow that assures you the fluid draining out is actually fluid from above the standpipe, not just a dribble trapped within the standpipe. For the 722.9, your transmission, it looks like you need a special fill adapter. For my Tundra, I bought a pressure fill unit, but it goes in through a plug on the side of the housing.
It's a PITA.
If I had your transmission, I would do the fluid check after I had changed the fluid. For all the trouble, might as well have new fluid in there.
My Tundra requires the same procedure.
IF you want to check the fluid, you have to have the truck on a lift, set the temperature, and get out your fluid pump.
