Power Trunk Opening Normalization

Well looks like I've caused myself some annoyance..

During the course of resetting the limits on my power trunk opening system, I reset the PSE module back to it's factory settings with a full function Matco scanner. I've managed to re-code it for the vehicle using the scanner and all functions work now except power opening/closing. I copied the settings exactly from the original PSE module I replaced a few weeks ago. It appears that the "normalization" has been lost and I can't seem to reset it.

There is a function within the scanner to do this but it doesn't seem to work

First step is to open fully manually and hit the F3 button on the scanner. Pump runs for a few seconds. F2 to continue. Then it says to close the lid using the S62/26 close button in the trunk, and then hit the F3 button again. Lid doesn't close using the S62/26 button as specified. A 10 second timer starts and the test plan finishes. Next screen says the system is not-normalized and of course the system is still inop. Most annoying part of this is that the system used to work until I accidently reset back to factory settings..

What gives here!? I must be doing something wrong.. Car has Keyless-go if that makes a difference.

Does "my" procedure differ from the factory scan tool procedure? Or maybe something in my scanner program is not right?

Any help or insight greatly appreciated.

I know an old post, but I'm having the same issue. Was hopeful that you might have found a solution. STAR says that I have no signal coming from S62/26 button when I push the button to close for normalization. Actual data, Open normalization shows 201, closed should be around 60, but shows 255. Because of this high number i think the system thinks that once open, the close position is now actually further open , and nothing happens. Opening also won't occur because it thinks it is already open past the normal open position.

Any way to manually enter these positions? I'm new to STAR, so still learning....

My first guess is that you have one or more broken wires in the trunk lid harness where it rolls up on the spring-loaded drum.

Thanks. Checked wires, but seem to be good. Trunk switch for Auto Close does not show any change of state when button is pushed, so think it may be faulty. Have a replacement on order. Faulty switch is keeping me from Normalization, so hope this helps.

"Checked wires, but seem to be good."

I do hope that the switch cures the problem - but...

The wires usually break inside the insulation. This means that a visual inspection is useless most of the time. The break is often intermittent, so a continuity check might or might not be meaningful.

Good luck!

According to Xentry, I have no operation of the S62/26 switch, needed for normalization. When I check that switch, I have 12V at the switch on both the Light Terminal as well as the center pin, which is the signal pin to the PSE module. Actuating the switch should close that line to ground ( through a resistor in the switch), signalling the PSE to close the trunk. Since I have 12 V there on that line, the wire seems to be good back to the PSE. If the new switch doesn't fix the problem, then I will do more spark chasing on the wiring.

Thanks,

Took me a month to figure out how to normalize the trunk. After you hit f3 in the open position you push the red trunk close button but you have to hold it until the trunk is almost closed. Then push f2 I believe, now test the trunk and see if it opens on its own and your done.
