S55 AMG pre-facelift
W220 hydraulic pump not kicking in
Hi everyone,
I bought my 2001 S55 AMG(pre-facelift) back in december of 2018 with the fault that the trunk doesnt close automatically. Now the weather starts becoming nicer I was diagnosing last saturday and I came to the conclusion that the hydraulic pump is allright, but is not getting a signal to turn on from the PSE pump(the relays dont engage at all, measured it with a multimeter, and indeed, not getting a signal). All and well I thought, and I bought a new PSE pump. Installed it, but nope; not working as I hoped. I read somewhere that the pump has to be re-programmed for the car type but I havent got that far(yet). Another weird thing is that the car has keyless go, but the trunk has the standard single button instead of the 2 buttons to close and/or lock the car. The soft close of the trunk does work, when I mannually try to close the trunk, it pulls it close and tight. Does this problem sound familiar to someone and maybe have an idea?
Thanks,
Koen

Read the operators manual on trunk and keyless go operation.
Search our forums; there is a switch over relay and switches from the trunk lock actuator involved..
As a hint: The trunk assist system may have been shut down (protectively) due to time out. You need SDS to reset that.
DON'T THROW PARTS AT IT! UNDERSTAND IT FIRST.

Since you're dealing with a part that hasn't been programmed to work in your car, stop right there and fix that. No reason to expect that other components will get the proper signal or operate correctly until that is resolved.
