And gets stuck in that position when trying to eject the CD (it first moves to the CD position then changes its mind and goes to the cassette position only to get stuck there).
I swear this head unit has PMS. It also likes to shut down randomly, and on occasion the sound system will emit an extremely loud screeching sound (typically when the weather is cold).
For THAT issue I suspect it’s the amplifier, but right now I need to figure out why the head unit keeps showing the non-existant cassette deck (I can’t change CDs and am stuck listening to Zelda).
That is an interesting unit - I have never seen a COMAND with both CD and tape decks...
Can you tell if there is a tape stuck in the unit? One of the most common tape deck failures is a loose/worn/broken belt not operating the eject function.
I have a 2004 S500 and I have a cassette deck as pictured, a single CD player, and a cd changer in the trunk. I use the cassette deck for my Bluetooth adapter which allows me to play my Android phone thru the car speakers. It stuck on me once because I put the Bluetooth adapter in wrong but Luckily I was able the remove the adapter without damaging the head unit.
