ABC delete power steering pump replacement- 02 s55
 

currently deleting the ABC from my 2002 s55 amg, i installed ceika coilovers and front sway bar, but running the pump dry caused the power steering pump to explode in the publix parking lot.
I need a replacement pump that doesnt run on ABC, is say a 2002 s500 non ABC PSP a direct bolt on replacement? what about hooking it up, will i need a new reservoir? If anybody has experience with this I'd appreciate any info and i can post pictures of a step by step process for deleting ABC.

It will fit but I think the pulley is different and needs a custom adapter

you can also buy a cheap rebuilt abc pump on rock auto and just loop the abc line so it flows back into itself

Is it possible to just remove the guts from the suspension side of the pump and maintain the original pump and use of power steering.

YES -provided you keep the reservoir connected and filled with oil to keep the shaft/seals lubricated. Plumb the ABC output back to the ABC reservoir. NEVER run a positive displacement pump without lubricant. Providing a circulation path is good practice. , If you want to avoid disassembling the pump to remove pumping internals, just loop the pump discharge after the cooler directly to the cooler and back to the reservoir. .

I disassembled the pump and removed the pistons and springs from the high/suspension side. There is a sleeve bearing that the pump shaft rides on so I am plugging the discharge and filling it with oil for a "bath" to keep the bearing lubricated but it shouldn't require pressure. Next step tonight is to install it and see how it holds up. The V12 doesn't allow for a quick easy non-ABC pump swap so I'll give this a try, but without the pistons riding on the cam lobes I anticipate a positive outcome.
