2004 S600 Brake light stays On and can't shift out of Park
With the headlights off and foot off the brake pedal I saw the reflection of my brake lights bouncing off the garage wall then walk around to check and didn't thinking much then jump in to back out but it's stuck in Park again, I said "again" is because it got stuck in Park two years ago and I replaced that little black plastic thing with an aluminum one, so I highly doubt it broke again?
My issues are.. Brake lights(all three) are constantly on till shut off and shifter stuck in park, could they both be related between one and another?
Oh,No warning/message in the instrument cluster,No water intrusion ever so it shouldn't be a SAM problem? could this be as simple as a bad brake light switch or...
Greatly appreciated if someone here can point me to the right direction to start trouble shooting,Thanks in advance!!
Edit; After my 1st posting this morning: Is it wise or should I disconnect/re-connect the battery then do a Re-set/Re-learn procedure?
Knowing all the knowledgeable regular posters here giving excellent advise on this Forum(100% of all of my minor issues are resolved/fixed) someone has to know what I'am talking about
Edit 2. Next day(Today) 10/19 Bought a new brake light switch from MB dealer @$31.xx +Tax and then remove/Installed, No difference . Sad day today..
Amazon, Ebay, Rock auto,Auto Zone,Advance Auto are $12..xx- $25.xx

Any possibility that you have gotten water in thru the HVAC intake plenum? That can cause all sorts of problems.
Thinking to buy a used SAM from ebay. Do you or anyone know if any coding/programming is needed after the swap or just a simple plug and play? Thanks.

It would be a good idea to have the car checked on DAS, if you can find an independent shop who have the system and know how to use it. You will need them to program the SAM anyway, and it might prevet you from buying parts that won't solve the problem.
The following ideas probably won't fix the problem, but there is a slim chance, and they are easy and free.
Do the primary reset sequence - start the engine, turn the steering wheel all the way left, then right, then repeat. Shut the engine off, restart, repeat. Shut the engine off, start it and see if the reset helped at all.
Check fuses F15 and F16. The system giving you problems is not as simple as it is on most cars, which is why you are checking fuses to fix lights that are staying on.
That been said, can any member with Xentry reading this could possibly come out to do a scan for me? (Queens,NY 11432).
and of course I'll pay you for your time, Thanks.
