Electronic Sound around left, rear fender/trunk area

Hi, all. I have an '01 S430 with about 70,000 miles. Recently, I've started to notice an electronic kind of noise that pulses on and off constantly (can also feel a vibration) from the left, rear fender and trunk area. The trunk soft close works fine, and the rear doors soft close just fine. The front doors haven't soft closed since I bought the car last December. Appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.

Mercedes
Could be your cd changer , or fuel pump . Fuel pump is usually quieter with a full tank and noisy with empty tank

Look in the right rear passenger area under the front of the rear seat and find the floor light on the carpeted wall. Pull the light out of the wall (no need to unplug it) and find the yellow 20-Amp fuse near the inner end of the row. Pull it out, and see if the noise stops. If it does, the noise is the PSE (Pneumatic Service Equipment) pump. If the noise is the pump, it shouldn't be running that much, as that will wear out/burn out the pump, and you need to find the leaks. When you replace the fuse, the doors might start working temporarily. If one works for a few days, you have a small leak in the soft-close actuator in that door. If a door's soft-close doesn't work at all, the actuator has failed ot the line is not connected or is broken. Same deal with the locks.
