AM/FM doesn't toggle
I recently inherited a 2006 S500 with 120K miles. As a former 2001 Porsche owner, I think I know what I've gotten myself into in terms of repairs. Already, there've been a few hiccups as a new owner -- it took me a while to accept that bluetooth and an AUX in aren't in my future. Then the air suspension needed repair (fortunately replaced struts were still guaranteed). Sluggish acceleration seems to have improved with the throttle reset. Auto door closer not working on the driver's side.
Anyway... today I started the car and a high pitched whine came out of the audio speakers. After several seconds, it recovered and resumed playing music as usual. But I noticed that now the radio (currently defaulting to FM) does not respond when I press the AM/FM button. I turned off and restarted the car, but the AM/FM button still doesn't respond. So, I can't play AM radio.
I've read about resetting COMMAND by removing the fuses. Should I try that? If so, where can I find directions for the s500?
Thanks!

does this car have a security code that I need to enter if the battery is disconnected and then reconnected? because I didn't get that code from the person that gave me the car...

If you do choose to disconnect the battery you will have to perform some reset operations, including:
- With engine running, turn the steering wheel full travel left and right a couple of times.
- For each window, run the window all the way down and continue to hold the switch for ten seconds or so. Repeat going up. Repeat for each window.
- Repeat for the sunroof in each direction.
- Repeat for the steering column in each of the four directions.
Some of the professionals and knowledgeable folks on here advise that disconnecting the battery is not a good thing.

I own my W220 for almost 15y and disconnected the battery zillion times over those years, and nothing negative happened, ever.
