722.9 Transmission advice..
My car's gears would some times slip when I would accelerate but when I would drive at a steady speed it wouldnt. About three weeks ago while I was driving the gear slipped and that was that it wouldn't go forward or reverse. After that I got it towed to a place called S And S Mercedes , he said I needed to replace the transmission. I got it towed back to the house and a few days went by decided to turn it on and to my surprise the car actually went into gear and went forward a few feet at that point I put it in reverse and it went reverse so I made and appointment at AAMCO, when the tow truck arrive I was gonna push the car out to the street but decided to see if the gears would engage and sure enough they did so I drove it out the drive way and into the street without a problem. So at AAMCO I told them to just change the transmission fluid , but he insisted to run a diagnosis and I told him that I don't want none of that all I want is for the transmission fluid to be changed i was very clear and said just changed the oil. So a day went by I called and he said he ran a check anyways and his conclusion was the same to replace transmission. Is it possible that it just needs transmission fluid since it did drive into the street for the tow truck to take it, if my transmission was out and needed to be replaced wouldn't it not drive forward at all?
Any advice thoughts would be very appreciated...
I only ask because I recently bought the same car and I'm working through some transmission problems as well. Good luck!
You either need a new valve body coded to your car or a complete used transmission coded to your car . These can be found and Installed cheap but Both require online scn coding and virginizing the conductor plate by a Mercedes specialty shop , a dealer won’t generally do it
yup u can’t just swap the part and expect it to work
