S320 CDI Actuator Removal
My 320CDI with the OM648 keeps going into limp mode, and the sole code recorded points to the actuator. I believe this is a known electrical problem, so I want to take off the controller and have a look at the circuitry. My question is - does anyone know how big a job this is on the OM648? I know I need to remove the air box to get to the turbo, but I've been unable to find any images to tell me whether I'll need to fully remove the turbo to get to the actuator controller, which would obviously make the job much bigger.

Thanks! To confirm; yes - you do not necessarily need to remove the turbo to get the actuator off - with the caveat that I have pretty skinny fingers. It can be done with a 10mm wrench slipped through the gap between the turbine and compressor sides of the turbo. You can also verify the inner workings of the actuator by popping off the cover which doesn't require removal.
Should anyone find this through search in the future, I am getting actuator and back pressure codes (2510 and 2539). Turns out the worm gear in the actuator has completely shattered down one side which I am 99% sure is the cause of all problems. Replacement is on its way and I will update.
