Does anyone know how to open the engine cover on a 2001 S600? I want to replace the air filters.
I took the screw out of the front part (bottom of the picture) and tried to lift up and forward, but it seems like if I pull any harder it's
going to break. I quit before I broke something as it seems like there's something else holding it in other than that one screw.
lift it up a little at the front, then grab it at the REAR and pull it up.
The steel spring clips are probably too dry, so when you re-install it put some grease on them.

I was able to get it open. after the front piece came out (1 screw) there were 3 screws holding the filter assembly on.
Intake plenum inside to wiggle free also.
Then, 10 more screws to open the 2 air filters.
They sure don't make these easy (or cheap) to work on!
