7G Tronic reliability concerns

Hey guys, I am a new member to this forum, though I have been reading it for years (lots of great info on here). I am the past owner of a 2004 CLK500, which I absolutely loved but had to sell due to changing life needs. Anyways I am back into the market for another Mercedes, and I have always loved the w220. I have been looking into getting a face-lifted W220 with around 100k, I have been specifically searching for a 2003 model year (last year of the 722.6 in RWD) however I keep coming across good deals on 04/05 cars. So my question is, would you consider an 04/05 model with the 722.9 to be a safe-ish choice (I know these cars are not known for the reliability), or should I hold out for an 03? I realize that Mercedes has used this transmission in a ton of cars so they can't be that bad, but I am concerned about the lifespan and potential problems compared to the 722.6
