Hello all! I have an 03 CL500 (yes, I know it's a W215 - but it's also a W220). The car will shift fine in 1-4 gears, but it won't go into 5th. It also won't change gears when I try to manually shift from D (+ or -).

Any ideas?

I've already changed the transmission. Yes, I know it's a huge step, but I thought that was the problem. Now I'm thinking my transmission computer might not be the right one for my car.

The trans computer hasn't filled with auto transmission fluid because I've replace the connector at the conductor plate, so no fluid is wicking up.

But why can't I get fifth gear or manually shift gears??

An expensive diagnosis can save you thousands. Otherwise you're just throwing **** against the wall and seeing what sticks.

If you do want to throw **** against the wall and see what sticks:
You might need to get your new transmission properly coded to the car using mercedes software.
The replacement transmission, was it brand new? You might want to check your solenoids and conductor plate.
The fluid is at the correct level? Measure the level while the car is running and the oil as at the right temperature.
There's a procedure to adapt the transmission. It requires a mercedes computer and an extensive road test with 2 people. You might want to do that.
Automatic transmissions are witchcraft. It sounds like one of your solenoids might be bad.
