Wheel well fitment

I bought the car with these wheels they are 245 20s and i just wanted to see if this looks like a problem. Im 98% sure it is directly attached to the wheel and wont ever move but there is about an inch of clearance

the wheel is 'fixed' in its position relative to the control arms and that joint. There are no rubber bushings in that linkage to deform, only steel. The tire WILL grow in diameter with speed and temperature, but not that much. IMHO, I would grind off the protruding stem--another 1/4" of clearance may be critical under some unforseen condition.
