05 S600 to 04 S430 parts swap
I'm parting out 05 S600 and want to take parts to 04 S430. When I bring the headlights from HID to Non-HID, I got many errors messages. What's the least effort way to resolve errors? Just take the HID components from 05 S600 and keep the original 04 S430 headlights?

I believe that you will need access to DAS to program the car to use the HID lights.
I suspect that you will find the same thing for most of the systems that you swap from the S600 into the S430.

HID works but other lights get no connections. I have DAS but I don't think I can code it out. I didn't see an easy way to bring the whole harness over thus the thinking of talking HID components only.

RE: Swapping parts from newer s-600 to older S 430??? MBZ often makes 'running changes for 'improvements'' and does a poor job of documenting them because of different updating/reissue schedules.changing ALL the Documentation. I once owned a 1971 280-SE with the EuroSpec mechanical gasoline injection, high compression, high output inline 6, with oil cooler, bigger radiator, bigger aux fan, etc., and there were 7 (seven) different and incompatible wiper arms and wiper blade part numbers, indexed only by the engine block number--not the build sheet or serial number. It also had OEM auxilary transmission cooler in front of the A/C condenser and a larger fan and fan clutch and better fan shroud. With patience the STAR Motors parts guru in Houston and I finally figured out a small block number range -the limited production high horsepower engine block was 'new exchanged' at the factory but they neglected to stamp the original block number on the higher horsepower engine. We worked hard to identify the correct distributor for that engine and output because the 'hand ground' distributor rotor shaft had not been hardened after the grinding and wore unevenly causing ignition timing to vary over 8 degrees on different cylinders. The car was a 'special attention' car and the original purchaser had wanted a 6.9 version car but they 'back ordered' at least 6 months due to engine casting problems. With this special H.O. engine, beefed up transmission, and different rear axle ratio to take advantage of the much higher 'red line' and power curve, nearly matched the 6.9 rear wheel torque and horsepower!
I really learned a lot about just how tortuous it can get 'when at first you practice to deceive' in the MBZ system. Their craftsmen, could and would, make a unique(one off) part for a 'special handling customer', but getting a replacement years later often was NLA because the original craftsman had retired and left no drawings or specs. For the engine's unique ignition distributor, I found a NASA supplier specialist machine shop in South Houston that weld repaired, reground, and case hardened the lobe shaft back to 'new or better' tolerances and specs and cured my issues forever. It was not cheap, but it did solve my problem.
Retrofitting from an older model year electronics is often not possible or practical such as when they switched COMMAND from version 2.5 to version 2.0 a year LATER -switching from a fiber-optic digital network to a '*******' CAN based network, leaving the 2000 S-600 incompatible with ANYTHING ELSE. HID headlights require some more sensitive electronic 'ballasts' to 'provide much higher voltage to start the arc' and then turn the voltage down to limit current (and heat generated. Always ask questions on this and other forums to learn what and how it can be done. Dealer techs 'know what they work on', but not 'what can be done to modify.'

Here's the back of HID light:
It seems there's more works with bringing HID components to the non HID headlight. The wiring harness of non HID headlight is identical to one wiring harness of HID headlight so it seem like I just need to figure out the internal wiring for left/right signal. The thing is I can't see where the wires going without taking the whole thing apart.
