ECU replaced - Couple of minor issues
.The replacement parts were installed and car started right up, drives and no major issues
.I do however have a few issues which I need some help with:
1. Matching odometer between Instrument cluster and ECU. Due to the mismatch, odometer shows ------ for miles. I tried switching off the Instrument cluster redundant setting in SDS however did not seem to help. Is the dealer the only one who can resolve this?
2. SRS light is on, with codes show is due to VIN mismatch between ECU and Airbag module.
3. Unable to change ABC level setting, defaults to highest setting, with front panel buttons no longer working. The donor ECU was from same year however came from V12 W220 vs my V12 W215. Not sure if this is an issue.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Chris
I have an '05 S600 I purchased with this very issue. This is because on of the previous owners did the same thing you just did. His EIS went bad and I guess he didn't to spend the money to fix it the right way. I have STAR DAS/Xentry and have fiddled with the car enough to tell you the following:
1. The dealer will not want to touch your car for anything other than to rectify this issue by installing an EIS that matches. Due to theft/liabilities they will not touch it. Also, there's nothing that can be done to make this go away. The ECU and cluster have different VINs and different mileage and so the car doesn't know who's right and therefore displays --------.
2. SRS light will stay on AND Pre-safe will be unavailable due to the same VIN conflict issue. There is also NO fix for this. You cannot re-VIN the airbag module to make it "play along" with the newly installed modules.
3. This one I can't answer because the same owner had the god-sent wisdom of yanking out perfectly good ABC shocks and replacing them with the STRUTMASTER coil overs because of ONE ruptured hose, and also installed the electronic module which makes the ABC display and buttons go to "sleep". I'm in the process of restoring this car but have not made it to the point where I have ABC back so I don't know if the VIN disagreement has any weight of what you're experiencing with your ABC system.
Good luck with your project and keep us posted of any progress!
