ebay link

considering there are $6k incentive plus $4-5k negotiating room bet. MSRP & invoice on brand new leftover 04 S class, this price is too high... i think low 70s is more like it. what do u think?

2000 S500
Yea I agree, but the car is loaded with options. The only way to tell is get the MSRP for it.

MSRP on brand new S500 like the one you noted would be $93,820.00
Details:
M.S.R.P.* $84,620.00
Options
Factory Installed CD Changer $420.00
Packages
318 Trim Package $880.00
321 AMG Sport-Package $5,310.00
327 Comfort Package $1,590.00
Gas Guzzler Tax $1,000.00
Total MSRP - $93,820.00
Dealer Invoice - $86,373.00

In the case of eBay, take off about $2k for mileage, (Never heard anything about $6k !!!! - where did you get that info ???), about 5% for "Not Exactly Brand New" status, you will come up with around $80k (at its best) or more...

Well, I didn't follow latest updates on MB incentives, but I am sure that incentive would only be valid for a brand new car sale, not used car sale!
Yet, most likely at time of the purchase of the mentioned S500 there were no incentives...

RE: MSRP - In my calculations I followed the list of options listed, there may be something else installed...

In any case, from the dealer/seller perspective this car would be sold for around $80k IMO
