I read that in '05 all of them were going to come with 4Matic standard.
In that case the cheapest S-Class would have an MSRP of around $80K when it used to be in the mid-$70's. Guess they did that because they figured not many people would buy a car in it's last year of production.
Also, just out of curiousity, have you been banned from the W220 forum? Shouldn't this be posted in that forum, considering we do have a forum that is meant for this? Not trying to be rude, just an observation.

I think by making it standard they are also making it "free". Although I'm sure the MSRP will still be raised but only slightly for inflation.

Brian, hopefully it is "slightly". Instead of 4Matic, I wish they would offer Distronic, Keyless Go, Park, and Sports Package standard, lol! Just for the people who live in SoCal and don't need AWD.
That's the way it's been since 2002, when they first introduced 4Matic to the S-Class, right? I don't see why they would change it.
yep, that's the way it's been since they started offering 4Matic on the w220. Acutally, now a days, i've seen a LOT more 4Matic w220's here in MA than RWD.

I have only seen one W220 4Matic, and that was the one at the dealer, we almost got it, if there wasn't that last minute deal screw up, lol. But, according to Starmark and other places I've checked, their quite a few of these, not as much as the regular W220s, but still quite a lot of them around. I would expect places like MN, MA, MI, NY, PA, RI, MD, and other states on the East Coast and probably in Canada, to have a lot of them around, but not so much in CA, not even in NorCal.

I live in PA and have lived in NY and don't see hardly any 4Matic W220's. Now the W203's they are split about half and half. I see more RWD ones, but I do see quite a few of the 4Matic's as well. Some people I guess just know how to drive a RWD vehicle in the snow. I have two and no longer own a FWD car! **** I even drove the C Coupe with the 17 inch wheels on it last winter. Handles just fine!!!
Here in the burbs of chicago where the roads arent all plowed the best depending on the area, ive noticed most 430 and 500 models are 4matic, now that it is no charge i expect there will be an even bigger increase in them.
