W220 Trunk Hydraulics

Apologies as I know there are many posts on this topic - and I’ve possibly posted before, but I am still not clear on operation.

my auto-trunk open/close will not work. If I press the red close button with the trunk open I can hear the pump running, but there is no movement. Same when I use the door panel switch. Tried to reset, and topped off the fluid (seemed a little low). No change.

I can also hear the soft close mechanism working - possibly leaking air? - but no movement.

Most of the guidance on the forum is directed at the actuator air leak. If the auto open/close is hydraulic, that’s not my problem.

I appreciate whatever explanation or suggestions forum members might have. If not resolved in a week or so I’ll have my mechanic look at it, as the car needs to go there as the driver side window came out of its clips and I’m waiting on a new window glass (clips already installed). I thought of doing this myself, but I’m a little concerned about the air back and/or not having the window properly aligned and breaking it when trying to close it. Probably worth $200 or so not to worry about that.

thx in advance.

Has any work been done n this system lately before the problem started? You mentioned that you “reset it”. Can you explain how you reset it? Did you use STAR to do so??? If so, were there any fault codes in STAR???

you need SDS to "re-inialize" the system.
