Replacing Audio Gateway AGW - P/N Interchangeable?

Replacing Audio Gateway AGW - P/N Interchangeable?
Hello, my AGW got wet because of the tail light gasket leaking, and needs replacement.
I have a 2004 S55 AMG, and the current AGW in the care is part number A2208701889.
I see on W220.ee that the part was replaced by part number A2208702989.
Is it necessary to find a replacement with the original part number, or are these interchangeable. I've already had to do this once and found the same P/N, but this time, there are several that are much cheaper with the new P/N, just didn't want to spend more if they were the same thing.
