2000 Mercedes S430
Rear driver's side suspension falling intermittently

I've got a 2000 Mercedes s430, and the Airmatic on the driver's side rear passenger corner will fall every once in a while. It's only happened once while driving, but it sags a little bit when I park on a slope. That's the only corner that falls, and the car will often times be totally fine overnight. Whenever I turn on the car, it'll pump up without much issue, aside from a slight hissing noise. I'm not sure if that noise indicates a leak, based on the fact that it only ever happens when the car is raising or lowering, but any noise is worth mentioning. I'm worried about the repair cost, and was wondering if there was a way for me to identify and fix the problem myself. Is there any possibility that I won't have to replace the strut? Thanks!

Mercedes
It could be the strut , the valve block that routes air to the struts, or an air line

at 20 years old all the parts are at end of useful life

+1

I would anticipate (from a $$ standpoint) at least needing new struts... could be a simple leak in the air line or compression connection. You could start by applying a soapy solution to all the air lines/connections and checking for leaks. No leaks found, but one (or more) of the corners is dropping overnight, then either the strut is leaking or the valve body.

If your capable, read thru this: https://w220.ee/Airmatic#Issues_and_Troubleshooting
