Sunroof tape?
New to me 2005 S500 had a rusted out sunroof frame. Scored a replacement at a local pick-a-part and I’ve been totally rebuilding a working sunroof from the best parts of both and a few new parts (big job by the way).
One malady that was common to both was that the black cloth tape that runs along the aluminum sun shade channels. The adhesive was dried out and most of the tape had come loose and bunched up in the water tray channels.
I can’t see that it was really doing much, and I haven’t found anyone mention a source for the tape to replace it. It looks like a 1/4” gaff tape, maybe a little more satin-like. Anyone have any specifics or think I should even bother to replace it?
