Need help - on and off "Airmatic, car too low!" warning

I have a 2002 S500. Recently, I start to get an on-and-off "Airmatic, car too low!" warning whenever I have passengers sitting at the back of the car. The warning will appear for a few minutes, then go away. When I only have a passenger in the front seat, this warning does not appear. I took it to the local mechanics but he did not find specific problem for the first try. I did notice that both of the back tires seem to be closer to the car housing than the front, though there are still some space between the tires and the car housing.

I found a link with repair instructions. But it looks to be complicated for me. Can someone help me narrowing down the possible cause of the issue instead of sending the car to dealer for super expensive fix? Much appreciated.

Does your height button on the dash work to raise the car ? Raise it then see if you get the warning with passengers in the back

there is likely a problem with your rear height sensor there is a metal lever that rusted out

I pressed the button to raise the car. It light up the button and showed "Airmatic is rising". However, the car did not raise up and stayed at the same height while continuing to show "Airmatic is rising" on the dashboard.

Is the level sensor located in the front or back? I saw a Youtube video replacing the front level sensor. Is there a rear one as well?
