2000 S500 Trunk Latch Mechanism Not Locking Properly

for further clarification. As you can see, latch and striker are properly aligned, the latch follow-through is correct, but just as I wait for that "click" to know the trunk is locked, the latch will release. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
