Double Spoke AMG 18" wheels
Hi everyone!
Anyone can answer the following question for upgrading from MY01 S500 AMG Sport Package 18" wheels (5-spoke style 220) to AMG Double Spoke 18" wheels (see pics below):
1. Front wheels are the same, but rear wheels:
Old (5-spoke Style 220): 9.5x18 46mm offset
New (Double Spoke): 9x18 44mm offset
2. Original MB tires:
Old (5-spoke style 220): 275/40R18
New (Double Spoke): 265/40R18
So here the questions:
1. Would the smaller width and offset of the rear wheels affect performance and handling?
2. Tirerack offers on new Double Spoke wheels 275 width tires if you select MY01 S500, but 265 width tires if you select MY04+ S55 (where these wheels are installed originally).??? Why is that? It is the same wheel!

that been done as well, the newer S55's come with thinner ones i believe and the older ones with the 220 style (i think thats right). i guess its a matter of preference. you can look for pics or go to tirerack.com to see what they look like on the car.
