help w/COMAND system
Hey guys,
I'm new to the S-class forum, though some may remember me from the CLK forum.
Anyways, my dad just picked up a 2000 S430, and I was over to show him how the COMAND system worked (his car didn't come w/the manuals, although they are on order). I noticed that the COMAND system in the S differs from that of the CLK.
Does anyone know if there is a one-button click that can get you to the Map screen? In my CLK430, all i have to do is press the 'Map' button. On the S, there doesn't seem to be a map button. Is there any other recommended way of bringing up a map?
Any help would be appreciated.

The S-Class and CL-Class use COMAND 2.5 ... The other models use COMAND 2.0, that is why they look different. Functionally they are almost exactly the same.
As far as the "Map Screen" you are asking about, do you mean a screen where you can see the road you are on and a Triangle Icon (The Vehicle) that maps you while you drive ?
If this is what you are referring to, there is no one button click. You need to hit Nav, scroll to the bottom and choose the last option in the list.
That should do it.

I also agree with JL88 as it would be very nice if Mercedes would put the street names on the map disc viewable while in nav or show location mode.
There have been numerous people that have recommened this to Mercedes.

yeah i guess you're right. primative wasn't the right word to use. i just know that the navi in the RX300 is so sweet. like it tells you all teh road names shows you where you are live and ... i like cuz its touch screen, so you when you're typing where you want to go you don't have to scroll all the time. the only downside with lexus's nav is you can type in destinations while you are moving.
