Correct if there is no drive authorization there is no crank . Again the fastest way to troubleshoot a drive authorization issue is to swap the 4 parts mentioned above

I respect your suggestion, but I am determined to find the TCM/TCU et al and see if it can be revived to the point that I can communicate with it.

S430 No Crank

Well, I decided to take another look in the right SAM box. And after pushing all the wires out of the way that covered it, there it was. When I removed it water poured out of it. So, egg on my face! My apologies to all who insisted it was there, you were correct. I'm 72 now and my vision is not quite what it used to be. Some days I think I'm going on 100!

Glad you found it !! But if it was full of water I don’t think that’s your only issue . Because just a failed Tcu will not result in no crank

i think you’ll eventually need to replace all the modules in there as they are probably all water damaged

S430 No Crank

Perhaps, but I doubt it.The reason is this: when I first pulled the cover off I noticed that it was not properly seated, (it is a bit of a pain,) I suspect that pouring down rain was able to get into the box and flood the TCM. I have replaced the SAM and am not getting any codes from it. It was seated on the inside part of the cover, but not on the outside. So, I think that the EM is good. Hopefully this thread will help another, that is my hope for.
