2000 s430 shifting issue
Hi guys. I was driving and went to reverse just fine - went into drive - then tried going back in to reverse and couldn’t. So went back into drive and it wouldn’t go past 2nd gear. So I guess limb mode.
the shifter seemed not to want to go into park or reverse - on the dash where it states what position the shifter is in - it was blank.
today I went to get in and the shifter was working fine and reading on the dash what position it was in.
I pulled some codes today - not sure if they are old or from the recent issue - also note I have no warning lights come one like abs etc on the dash stating an issue…

could one of these caused what I experienced?
Could it be something else like the Conductor plate? Or maybe just a random one time issue?

When I tried it again - sometimes the key would not make a beep sound when you turn it and this is when it will go out of park to to drive but then doesn’t let you go back to park. Just neutral or drive

itll stop driving if convertor goes dry
i dont think it would do damage
get some shell atf or whatever
2000s have reliable trans its a 5 speed, 6th gear is reverse
no one counts reverse as a speed
it does have a dipstick tube which is capped off with a break-off plastic cap . And you can buy a dipstick tool to insert in the tube to check fluid level
the later 500 rear wheel drive (not 4 matic ) uses the 722.9 seven speed , with no dipstick tube
