2000 s430 shifting issue

2000 s430 shifting issue

2000 s430

Hi guys. I was driving and went to reverse just fine - went into drive - then tried going back in to reverse and couldn’t. So went back into drive and it wouldn’t go past 2nd gear. So I guess limb mode.

the shifter seemed not to want to go into park or reverse - on the dash where it states what position the shifter is in - it was blank.

today I went to get in and the shifter was working fine and reading on the dash what position it was in.

I pulled some codes today - not sure if they are old or from the recent issue - also note I have no warning lights come one like abs etc on the dash stating an issue…

could one of these caused what I experienced?

Could it be something else like the Conductor plate? Or maybe just a random one time issue?

Ok - so I just went and when I turn the key I hear the beep sound and it seemed to work without issue.




When I tried it again - sometimes the key would not make a beep sound when you turn it and this is when it will go out of park to to drive but then doesn’t let you go back to park. Just neutral or drive

Well I drive a 05 s500 w220.175 7 speed trans which am currently trying to figure out right now
Transmission??????

W220.175 with 6 speed trans am trying to figure out wat kind of transmission I have it's a 6 speed and it's sealed no place to even measure it with dip stick or anything but need to know having trans problem saying the torque lock up friction is to hot or something like that but I belive it's just ganna be a silinoid but can't start it cause don't know exactly wat kind of transmission I have and don't even know we're to start on how to put oil in it I had work on a 04 e class 00 s500 clase 04 c clase 04 clk and 05 clk 500 and those had a way for the dip stick to measure and all but this one don't have nothing help lol

No such car as a w220 with a 6 speed . The early cars and all 4matic , amg and s600 has a 5 speed 722.6

the later rear wheel drive s430 and s500 had a 7 speed called 722.9

its out of fluid it sounds like, you sure thats ok? 500 has a dipstick right boys
looks like i responded in your other post so lets ignore that

check that badboy asap
itll stop driving if convertor goes dry
i dont think it would do damage
get some shell atf or whatever
2000s have reliable trans its a 5 speed, 6th gear is reverse

The early 500 rear wheel drive and all 4 matic have the 722.6 which is a. 5speed
no one counts reverse as a speed
it does have a dipstick tube which is capped off with a break-off plastic cap . And you can buy a dipstick tool to insert in the tube to check fluid level

the later 500 rear wheel drive (not 4 matic ) uses the 722.9 seven speed , with no dipstick tube

ding ding there is the answer. he doesnt know the red cap is by the passenger side exhaust manifold removes. i just pop on the old one off OP

get a looooong funnel lol

Ur right that was a typo it is a 7 speed I did everything right at the moment am ready to install donner cp but need to flash it I can't get the info from the old cp cam some one get me the info I need to flash the new/used cp
