Headlight help

My entire driverside headlight went out. Does anyone know why this happened and how to fix this?

Backstory:
A couple of years ago I changed out my headlights with a set I bought off of Amazon. I also swapped the bulb with leds. The drivers side lowbeam would randomly go out. After about a year Idecided to get another set of headlight to fix the lowbeam problem. New headlights did the same thing. After getting a ticket I started driving with the highbeams on. Suddenly last month the entire deiverside headlight went out. I've checked the plugs, everything looks fine. I'm really close to just wiring the headlight to the battery and putting a rocker switch to turn it on/off. I'd rather not gherto rig my s600 so I hope someone will have a solution for this problem

Each light is controlled by a different SAM in the engine compartment for redundancy.

the proper way is to fix the issue at the Sam or ballast

the cheap and quick way is to Get a universal hid conversion light kit from Amazon that includes bulbs ballasts and wiring . They use one plug connected to the factory wires just as a turn on /off signal , but both bulbs are connected with new wiring as part of the conversion kit . Connect that one turn on wire to your working side .

With the scan tool it doesn't tell me anything but the obvious which is the headlights out.

Why would I need to convert to hid? My led bulb still works. All the bulbs are still good, they just won't turn on. I don't know how to doagnose the problem because it's not throwing any error codes.

Are you telling me there's one wire that turns the headlights on?

Can I replace the sam unit with one from another car or does it need to be virginized first?

You don’t need to convert to HID, but if you want both headlights to work for the cheapest way possible, that will get both headlights working for the cheapest way possible. Your LED light is garbage and probably the reason it blew out the sam

yes, the proper way is to investigate the headlight circuit in the Sam and fix it properly. Since there are two headlight circuits in each of the Sam’s under the engine compartment, you can swap the relay from the left to the right and see if the failure moves sides. It may just need the relay inside the sam rather than the entire Sam.

the reason I said the cheapest way to get both headlights working isto buy a HID conversion kit is because the conversion kits only require one turnon signal from one headlight, and if you hook it up to the working headlight, then both sides will work, as the kits include wiring that uses the one turn on signal to turn on both hid bulbs and ballast in the kit..

The LEDs do not work the same way as they are wired independently. Only the universal HID kits use a single turn on for both bulbs and ballast

yes, but the aftermarket HID kits only require a turn on signal from one side , in order for both sides of the hid kit to work.

The LED kits require power from both sides to be working.

I figured out the problem. The locking clip on the connector broke off so over time the plug will work it's way loose. Now I just have to figure out how to secure the plug. I normally use zip ties but that's going to be difficult with the headlights.

All the led bulbs I've bought for the car are can bus ready BTW so I doubt the led would mess anything up. My drivers side side marker however is misbehaving since I put led and a resistor in it. The resistor got so hot it burned my hand. Not sure if that's normal or not
