Red face Steering Wheel Control "nicks"

Anyone figured a way to fix or prevent further "nicks" in the steering wheel controls? Specifically, the volume controls on my ash interior have white nicks from what I presume are from my wife's or my fingernails. No jokes please. The stealership said the entire module would nee to be replaced for big $.

Thanks
