Little wins ---- I noticed a faint whine sound while driving around. Turning the AC compressor on / off didn't help (I was thinking it might be the AC compressor failing --- I replaced my AC compressor in my also-m112-powered w210 at ~70K miles due to bearing failure).
It was something easy - the idler pulley. Working on this car -- little 3.7L m112 in a big engine bay -- is such a pleasure. This is exactly what I wanted - easy serviceability. Anyways, while I had the belt off, I noticed that the water pump pulley has a tiny bit of play. I'll have to replace the water pump ---- I will use a LASO, which is my fav aftermarket water pump out of the big brands (Salieri, Hepu, GRAF, LASO).
