TPMS (yes another thread)

Hi All,

I have scoured the TPMS threads and followed their recommendations without success.

The daughters 06 S430 needed new shoes. I had the TPMS sensors replaced when I installed the new tires. The units were the dual-frequency 315/433 Autels. Discount Tire was the installer. After many attempts to get the system to read the TPMS sensors, I got the dreaded Inoperative system drive to workshop message. Reset the system with DAS multiple times, only to end with the same result.

Contacted Discount, and they said the sensors were incompatible, even though my correspondence with Autel said otherwise, and they needed to sell/install the brand they use.

$300+ new sensors are installed, and still no joy. DAS will read the serial numbers during initial setup, but the VL always shows 0.00 months, and the temp is always 32 F.

The drives are always 20-30 minutes before the message reappears.

Does anybody see anything I am missing? It appears the module is working, as it will identify the sensors' serial numbers (1001, 1002, 1003, 1004).

Thanks for any suggestions.

Z

Did you purchase the Autel sensors, or were they provided by Discount Tire? Dual frequency means they can be set for the frequency required by the car's TPMS -- are you certain the correct frequency was programmed into the sensors?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. They were purchased from Autel and were transmitting on 315 MHz. I returned twice to Discount to verify and watched them use their machine as they polled each wheel before they installed their brand of TPMS.

If you go to tpms.com and enter you car's data, it will provide you p/n's for OE sensors. I've bought OE sensors there for my G550, X7 and Jeep Rubicon. All were installed by Discount Tire and all worked without any problem.

Using the configuration tool, it looks like an orange copy of the Autel sensors I initially had in.

I would rather not buy another set of sensors. Was really hoping that someone had run into something similar and there was a nugget of troubleshooting that hadn't been revealed yet.

If I do have to buy another set, I'll just get the MB ones.

Thanks again for the reply.
