W220 320cdi doesn't wanna crank
Hello i have a w220 320cdi 2003 my gear selector was an issue so i changed it. The trim was not still put on i wanted to try if it works and it worked fine i drove it to test it and it works perfect. When i put everything back i tried to start it and it doesn't even crank. The gears work on display, break switch works fine what could possibly be the reason to not start and doesn't even crank? While i was working the battery minus was off.

This is a bit of a puzzle.
Your shifter assembly is one of four "theft relevant" items. It is "married" to the car's VIN, and cannot be simply swapped out for a used assembly. I would not expect the engine to start after the exchange.
What was the original issue with the shifter?
