S600 Quest Ions: Repairs/ cosmetics
MB dealership did a buyer's check.
Leaking evaporator: anything I can do other than fork over 4Gs to fix this? Have an older Jag; the tech sprayed some gook in there to clog it for a bit. Will this work on the 600?
Oil sending unit: does this need to be repaired now; what does it do? Apparently entire crankshaft has to be taken apart to get to it.
Any other owners of this model have problems that have come up?
Does lowering suspension and adding larger wheels make the ride harsher than it is? Isn't the front end low enough for goodness sake?? What about wheel wells, speedo problems, etc.
Any thoughts, comments, condemnations, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Newbies rule.
Only problem is that there are not many w140 owners that post on this message board. I'm not sure if there is anyone that can help you.
You can try www.mercedesshop.com , lots of help over there for older models (yikes w140 old??)
good luck
As for AC evaporator:
My Jag mechanic sprayed in something called Stop Leak and this has held coolant leak to about 4-6 month intervals when a new charge is required. Have asked them to do the same for the Benz. The local mechanic did not want to do this, he also advised to wait for the unit to go completely kaput before replacement.
Anyone have an extra OEM wheel for this car to sell? The previous owner left the spare out.
