ABC Problem Help!

I have an '02 S430 w/ about 98K miles. The ABC went out. I was told it was due to a hairline leak in the hydraulic hose. The dealer says it is not from being hit or damaged. After doing some research I learned there was a recall for a similar problem in the S600 and CL 600 last year. The dealer tells me that I'm out of luck on this issue although they see similarities in the two problems. For some reason I seem to recall that the S430/500 did not originally come with ABC in the W220. If that is the case, it stands to reason that the problem would first manifest with the S and CL 600 since it has been on that model longer. Has anyone encountered a similar problem and did you get satisfactory resolution?

Recall 04V228000: ABC Pressure Hose Corrosion

DEFECt: On certain passenger vehicles, corrosion may occur in the inner steel portions of the Active Body Control's (ABC) high-pressure distribution hose due to extensive exposure to heat and humidity. Over time, corrosion may deteriorate the inner steel portions of the hose. This may result in ABC hydraulic fluid leakage.

REMEDY: Dealers will install new, corrosion resistant ABC high-pressure distribution hoses. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification is expected to begin during July 2004. Owners may contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-800-367-6372.
