oh, and he came from Chrysler, no? back in 2001 =)
I don't own audi or vw. To me, Audi is really not a good looking car, very very plain, can't tell the difference of the new one and the old one. BUT, vw is even uglier. i would definitely buy an audi instead of vw just because of its better look.

if i have the budget to buy audi, i would definitely buy a mb or bmw. really don't know why audi is doing so well.

Been wanting to chime in on this. Bentley is on fire all over the world. They're selling more cars now than ever before it seems. There is no question that VW is the best thing to happen to them since their LeMans wins back in the 20s.

That said, the help from VW has come at a price. I seriously doubt that Warren O. would want his Bentleys to be AWD or share so much hardware with VWs. On the interior question a Bentley will always be ahead of a Mercedes, as it should be for the price of a Bentley. Problem is all these new Bentley Continental models have a lot of VW Phaeton switchgear poking through. To me the only true "Bentley" or the only Bentley that I adore is the Arnage, well an Arnage T to be exact.

These Continental models don't look like anything special. In fact they're pretty bland if not ugly from some angles. Its the front end I can't stand. Same fender treatment as a VW Beetle. If we're going to compare the Flying Spur to the S65 I'll take the S65 evertime because it not only looks more agressive (not exactly "pretty" either, but agressive yes) and the 604hp will no doubt outperform the heavier Bentley on the straights and less weight and ABC will prove superior in the corners. The Continental Flying Brick has way too much rear overhang and has all the grace of a locomotive.

S65 over Continental Flying Brick, but Arnage T over S65 I think is how I'd go.

M

Maybe it is because of the interiors. They are done very well and the driver's seat in the A8 is the most comfortable seat that I have sat in.

Whatever else they do or don't do right -- their quattro system is good stuff.
And who can complain about the use of the Lambo V10 in the S8?

Well ,it's been 6 mos. since I started this thread and now that we've seen plenty of photos, not to mention physically seen and driven the new W221 S-class, it's time to get a fresh take on the same topic. To compare apples to apples insofar as power, let's compare the new S65 to the Bentley Continental Flying Spur:

Exterior & interior styling
Power
Amenities
Future resale value

You can't compare them... The Bentley is a rebadged Audi A8L. The interior, exterior, everything except the engine is the same. It is a nice car, but it should never, I mean never been allowed to carry that Bentley logo on it's hood or trunk -- because it is not a vehicle worthy of that badge. That badge symbolizes craftmenship. It symboloizes a hand built vehicle, and the flying spur is not!

Why is it that the Bentley always gets the top valet spot over any Benz, except maybe an SLR then? If you do the math, an fully-loaded S65 with an aftermarket kit and rims will be as much, if not MORE expensive, than the Bentley! Maybe this new S will cause more of a stir than the last one?

My take on it?

I'm buying two new S65's, and I am not buying a Flying Spur -- so my vote, and my money, is on the S65.....

This was the worst out of **** statement I have heard in my whole life.

Still LMAOff to the idiotic statement. I wish you actually have been (were able to) inside a Bentley and were able to actually compare the interior to the A8.

Well, I have and I agree with the idiot.

My brother-in-Law owns the last of the real Bentley's, and Azure, and that is a whole different animal. You Clearly have not sat in one of them.

So we're now going to rate a finely engineered car by where the $10/hr valet parks it?

a few...
The Bentley is far above and beyond any normal A8, I find it funny that someone actually said such a thing.

The new S, absolutely astonishing... The Flying Spur, incredible...

I will post pics of both tomorrow...

I recently sat in a $130,000 A8L with all the options, and I found it lacking in no way against the Bentley..

I think the S63 AMG and the flying spur would be a better comparison and a tough choice too but still I think id go for the S63 AMG

I have driven both extensively, unlike you. The vehicles share the same platform. The Flying Spur interior shares the same buttons, knobs, and navigation system as the Toureg/Pheaton. Compare the Flying spur to a real Bentley (Arnage R, Arnage T, Azure, Continental non-GT) and you will understand....
