SL should get the engine hopefully sometime in 2007 with the facelift.
However, its hard to say when the CLS, E, ML, R might get the new engine since there is a rumor going around that there is a 4.5 liter V8 coming out soon for the US market. Lets just hope this is false. I for one think that the S350 with the new 3.5 liter V6 is more than adequate to replace the current 4.3 liter V8 in use right now on the S.

No rumor.
Its true......at least Mercedes Benz of Princeton said so.
I know, what do dealers know, right?
The Car Connection said so also in this article:
S-Class Review
"U.S.-bound S-Class choices will be limited to the S450, S500, and S600. The S450 and S500 offer newly reworked V-8s; the S450 will have a 4.6-liter V-8, making 335 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque, while the S500 will have a 5.5-liter V-8 good for 382 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. Both are paired with a new seven-speed automatic transmission. The S600 remains the most exclusive and powerful S-Class model, with a 5.5-liter bi-turbo V-12 underhood now making 510 hp and 612 lb-ft."
MB has a HUGE market for the smaller V8 in the U.S.....they have to bring that engine here. I wonder if the E-Class will get both V8 engines?

This is still not enough power to compete with the new BMW 550i. I think the 450 is a bad idea and they should just stick with the new 5.5 liter V8 as it will significantly more power than the new BMW engine.

They won't even bother with the smaller V8 in the E-Class;;they'll just use the new 5.5 liter.

For some reason whenever anyone mentions the engine on the S600 they think THAT is the V12 bi-turbo .. it's not.
And yes, I know this is a little .. .. !
