Right-handed W221 debuts in Thailand today
Was at the launch of the right-handed drive version of the W221 here in Bangkok today. MB Thailand actually launched it at the German ambassador's residence for an exclusive crowd of 60 or so guests (I guess BMW, Porsche, and Audi will probably have something to say about German embassy's neutrality in such matters :p )
Pictures to follow, but the car is gorgeous and looks very exciting to drive
Currently they are offering right-handed drive versions of the S350 and S500 with a locally produced S280 and CDI to follow late next year. Now for the bad news- the base S350 is going to cost 11 million baht, or USD 270,000
This is due to the extremely high tariffs here. So as someone else here has mentioned in another post, everytime we buy a S-class here we end up buying 1 more for government officials.
