S600 Review in the Robb Report

For those who have not seen it yet, the December issue "collection" has a review of the 2007 S600 in their annual gift guide.

The pictures also put to rest the question of where the V12 logo will go, for those who were asking in previous threads. :p

..........I saw the report. It confirms a couple of things. MB will still be offering the twin turbo V12 as the S600 and later as the S65. The S65 will be using the current 5speed auto not the new 7speed. There will also be an AMG V8 version of the S class, but article does not state what the engine will be.

on the front fender, where the "biturbo v12" logo would be on an S65. But it's simply a "v12"

The S65 will be using the current 5speed auto not the new 7speed.
I may be wrong but one reason they are using the 5spd is that 7speed ratios do not match up well with the supercharged engine's power curve just like in the CLS55 Lots of extra oomph in them.
Very happy with the adaptive 7spd so far.

I had heard it was because the 7 speed transmission can't be reinforced well enough to handle that amount of power without frequently breaking.
