Quote: haha, whatever the case, expect to see one of these every few metres in London once they are released. spent the night there and i must have seen, oh, i dunno, at least 30-40 S-classes around Bond Street, Oxford Street, and Marble Arch? first time i wished an A8 or 7- would come just to break the monotony, lol
Yeah and you will probably see one in my garage in a couple of years...LOL

I don't like the new S any more than I did the BMW 745 a few years back. I had a 735 I and a 740 IL and liked both of them. When the new S came out in 2000, I was in love. I had hoped for BMW's new 7 to top it...NOT!! So now I drive a W220 S500. With the new S...I think it looks too stiff...but I have not seen one in person...we'll see.

I had a 98 SL back in 97 and could not stand the new SL when it came out, now I think it's one of the nicest cars on the road, give the flares some time they may grow on you

There's a guy who has a new S500 near my house and it looks stunning in black. Everytime I pass I get whiplash, even while walking.

Quote: I don't like the Maybach-style rear end, I hate the column mounted shifter and steering wheel design. That's about all as far as its design goes! I wish the US would get SWB S550's!!!
Do you still hate the column mounted shifter? I hated it as well but now, I am a bit more swayed in terms of liking it. I look in other cars and see the "standard" types of shifters and they seem like big, ugly pieces of plastic and metal that just get in the way.
