I was thumbing through the brochure and noticed that non-illuminated door sill panels (page 37) are available @ $459 to cover the lower portion of the cloth entry surround. Admittedly best to protect the two lighter colors like Savanna/Cashmere & Porcelain nevertheless in my opinion should have been standard.

Door panels are standard, but they look different on the german models - maybe this is special design you have to pay for?
But those protection things made out of chrome-steel are standard!

Found it under SEATING Plain stainless-steel door sill trims are standard. So you’re right for $459 extra you get non-illuminated Mercedes-Benz lettering from MBUSA.
