The S550 In Andorite Grey

Nothing wrong with a good touring tire -- best ride out there. You do want one that can deal with the occasional downpour or standing water on the road surface....
Remember too that your brakes, and the ability to avoid an obstacle in the road, depend on your tires' ability as well -- there is a saftey issue involved beyond "high(er) performance".....
I value safety higher than performace, myself.
A great touring tire, Jack - that's what you want -- whatever it is. It may be the Continental, and it may be something else.

The Bridgestone Potenza's are excellent tires. (See here http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...=All&x=57&y=10 )
The time to get your dealer to put quality tires on those 18" wheels is NOW--before you take delivery. He should be very amenable to putting good tires on that beautiful machine in order to "make the sale."
I'll let you know what to ask for as soon as I know--but you need to be thinking about whether you really want to stay w/ the all seasons or move up a grade to the higher prefromance tires. I'll have some options soon.

Select the Preformance Category you want and see what will work on your LE's 19" wheels. Personally, I'd select an Ultra High Performance Summer tire for the DC area. There are several excellent tires listed there. I favor the Goodyear Eagle F1s, which are what I run on my car, but the Micheline PS2s, and several others will be good too. They won't preform very well in those rare snow storms you get, but the other 98% of the time you will be very impressed. I also have Micheline X-Ice tires that I use in the winter, but I think our winters are much worse than yours. There are several other categories for you to look at as well, but you need to make the final decision.

I think the spare is an inflatable also. I checked the brochure but can't locate the information.

Jack, Help !
Jack, Please un-stretch the elongated interior shot ! The white S430 tailight was iffy, but viewing this steering wheel is gonna be a problem if you keep this car longer than 6 months !

Congrats on your car Jack.. Glauser is first class all the way.. I have dealt with Chad Glauser and his father (the owner) when they were down here in florida. They are what every MB dealer should be!

sl and M-class E320 4Matic SLK350
Thanks Thanks Thanks
I'll have to get a lot more miles out of my still (to me) new E Class before I can justify the leap to an S, but thanks to NevadaJack for the updates to allow us to share at least vicariously in the experience of purchasing the first of a new model.
By the way I do travel a lot in my business and have over the years stopped in at a number of Mercedes dealers over the years. The people at Glauser were most cordial and I was impressed with their large selection.
