2005 SL 500 and S550 on order

Build and Production Time

I was wondering what your production date and delivery date are on an S550 if you just recently ordered. Also what is the usual timeframe from order to delivery. My dealer here in Honolulu is trying to say ordering will take 6-9 months which seems a little long to me. Does this sound legit, or I should I go back and ask for some answers.

I live in Southern New Jersey and have gotten various order to delivery times.

AT Princeton motors, 6-8 weeks, at West Chester MB in pennsylvania 6 weeks,
at Ray Catena in Edison, NJ 3-4 months.

I think it has to do with the number of cars they have ordered and the number actually alotted to each dealer per month. ie: the more they ordered the longer the wait. So the dealers who have low sales/leases can get the car much faster but at signifigantly higher prices.

I have a Obsidian Black with AMG sports package, heated steering wheel, electronic trunk closer, bluetooth adaptor, door sills,and keyless go on order that I placed last week which is due for end of june beginnning of July.

Order Time

I ordered March 4th with build 2nd Decade of April with Late May Delivery. Time to delivery is 6 weeks to Denver, CO from build.

thanks to everyone that replied. Thats what I thought about the length of time it usually takes. My dealer was trying to claim that no dealer can get any S550 anytime soon because everyone wants one, and they are all backed up. I think I might have to go down there and see what the deal is, and if they cant speed it up, maybe just go to a different dealer and have it shipped.

SOme of it may have to do with the options you want- we got a message today that Night Vision(to use an example) already has 4 times the orders in the US as production can handle, so be prepared to wait for that. BTW- that is the coolest option- is it ever sweet at night on country roads!!
See if that might be the holdup. We have 3 in stock now, but I'm sure shipping from ohio would be a zillion dollars!!

mbtech, what are the specifications if you know for the three you have in stock. shipping from ohio isn't that bad. about 1500 or so. I am originally from outside detroit and have shipped cars from there and its not too bad.
