Current MBUSA transmission bulletin includes the 221:

I note this one deals with some small clip as opposed to the Valve Body cure. I had the problem in my S430 and they replaced the Valve Body and that was in January. Smooth as silk since.

I must say that MB really needs to get a grip on this little niggling problems. I mean it really isn't a "big" deal, but it keeps them from getting good marks in the surveys. Something that simple should have been caught long time ago and cars in production every since they found the problem shouldn't have this problem.

I agree but this appears to be a different problem than the Valve Body thing. This deals with some kind of "clip" It is a fantastic transmission and smooth as can be. Hopefully they will have all the bugs out of it now and the down shifting thunk will be history.
