Thanks,
Reception has been great so far. I havent tested in rural areas yet, but the audio quality is very good.

I got my bluetooth module about 2 weeks ago and it took 10 seconds to install, it just plugs into the port in the console, the book gives you a password to enter into your phone when it prompts and thats it. The reception so far is great. I was told by the lady at the mbwireless website that my phone (black rzr) would not work and the software in my phone was not compatible but she would sell me an older software silver rzr for $350.00! I gambled and tried my phone and no problems. The module wont support call waiting so that kinda sucks but range and reception are great. I bought mine from the dealer for $309.00, I think its worth it.

So for those of us that DO NOT have the phone kit installed, we would need to buy the kit WITHOUT the phone, and the bluetooth module? And then KABAM! We'll have bluetooth?

Isn't there a phone kit in every S550?

The HandsFree and Voice Control is standard on the S550 but you have to purchase a MHI Cradle for an approved phone or the BT Module to use your existing phone. Both of these unit plug into the existing outlet in the center console.

My Dad has had poor phone reception in his new S550 - probably due to the glass - but I noticed that only when docked in the cradle the external antenna is accessed - via the bluetooth module the external antenna is not utilized. It says this on the website although two dealers and Mercedes have told me different. I think that is an important note about the external antenna.

This is the reason I went with a new phone and cradle rather than the BT solution for my '06 S430. When I get my S550 I will use that phone and cradle. This situation has been noted for some time in brochures and other MB literature.

The bluetooth module/setup works great in my car. I have not had any issues with reception or call quality.

Mine have really bad for the calling party. I can hear other end fine, but they wont hear me well... I have Nextel I870 phone, it sound like I am driving with all the windows open (All other people had told me). Come to think about maybe is the Mic under the Rear View mirror is defect. Or simplely is Nextel I870 is not compatible with this? It works fine on all mine other bluetooth. Going to try with Sharp V903 see if it work.

BT Module wit Treo 650?

I ordered the BT Module and when they called me to confirm shipping, they said it would not work with the Treo 650, so I decided not to order it. Has anyone tested it with the Treo 650 yet?

That's what I'm waiting on since I use the same phone. I was told to wait until April when MB comes out with a new list of approved phones.

FYI on MB phone options:

www.wireless4mb.com

It's a website that I saw listed in the W221 Accessories catalog on the Hands-Free Communication System page (page 16). It has some info that may be helpful to folks.

Check out this guide put together by Madolfsson(sp). It should answer most of your questions and he has a Treo.

new s550

i got a new s550 and was going to buy the B67686131 bluetooth module on ebay for it. Would that module work with the Apple iPhone 3G and the Pantech Duo? or even the car?

When using the bluetooth module does anyone know if you can opt to use a bluetooth headset and still be able to have the radio on. My wife likes to listen to the radio, drive and talk on the phone at the same time.

You mean having the phone conversation through a BT headset and having the radio on at the same time? No, the radio mutes for phone calls. This is the way it should do anyway because it does not know if the driver is talking (it is a safety issue to talk on the phone, nothing bad if you do it properly but no need to distract the driver with the radio in addition to the phone call).

By the way, you can use the BT headset even if there was not BT dongle. The headset connects to the Comand (or the UHI/MHI BT interface actually) instead of the BT adapter.

Of Course, I have a Plantronics Discovery 925 and I can switch over between the headset and the Bluetooth Module in the S-Class no problem.

But the point was to have the radio on, not muted, while talking to the phone. I don't think this works, or how would you do it?
