First Service

Took my car to Fletcher Jones in LV today and had my first and last free Service. Had 1250 miles on it and I am leaving on a cross country trip on May 7 so wanted to have the diagnostic check before I left.

I called my SA on Tuesday PM and he said bring it in Friday at 8:00AM and he would take care of me. Arrived at 8:00 and drove out at 9:00 including a car wash. No complaints from me and no adjustments or fixes needed after the system check....

Jack, congratulations on a successful trip to a dealership without incurring any damage to your car. Please excuse the cynical remark, as I too, went to the dealership today and had a less than perfect experience. They performed the ECU update, per recall, and damaged a tire and wheel on the lift. They replaced the tire and sanded and painted the wheel. They did not try to hide the problem and told me that if I was not happy with their repairs, they would do what is necessary to make it right. I am having a bit of a problem deciding what to do because there are some problems. The car pulls to the side with the new tire and the wheel has additional damage from the socket rubbing the paint when they removed or installed one of the lug nuts. I am thinking about telling them to replace both tires to even up the 2 diameters, replace the wheel and align the front end if it still pulls.

Sorry for the hijack (no pun intended, but Hi Jack, anyway), I just thought this was a bit related to your thread.

BTW, good luck on your trip.

Wow, has it been that long already? 1250 miles, must've been that CO-NV trip. Congrats on a perfect record on the S so far!

Once I get rid of this cross country trip Ricky...I may only need one service during the 4 years I intend to keep this one. My insurance rate is based on 7500 annual miles...:-))) I only had 3900 on the S430 including the 750 mile trip to Denver to trade it and it was 7 months old...

You paid for those "free services" Ricky...believe me you paid for them...:-)

Tough luck on that service call. I would go with whatever you feel they need to do to make it right. At least a new wheel and tire plus getting rid of the pull.

Too bad they don't have S-class loaner car for you to use while your car is being serviced (for services that take more time)
