after seeing many W221's, I still seem to think, and so do my friends, that this car looks the best in the AMG package ( that is for the US market. ).I've seen the S600, but somehow it doesnt look right. ( althought the 40k more in price. )

what do you guys think. I mean that is one of the reasons I had to have the package, or I wouldn't have bought. All this said out of respect to others who have purchased without the AMG package.

I completely agree. The AMG pkg makes the S look like a completely different car. I hated the new design until I saw it with the AMG. I think it also helps with regard to the flared wheel arches. They look out of place on the standard car but seem to fit the profile of the car once it has the bodykit. I know a lot of people dont even consider the AMG package as they see the S as a limo but it really does tranform the car.

I have been trying to make the W221 "look right" to me since I saw the first decent spy pictures about a year ago. I should have realized when I started thinking about larger wheels, the AMG sport kit, and the color "black", that I was less then enamored with the new arched fender S-Class. I have since gotten more used to the look, and I actually have it on my short list for purchase this Fall. I do totally agree with you that the car needs the body kit to finish it's look.

The AMG kit IS beautiful, but $5,600 for wheels and a body kit? No, it's not needed to finish the look.

Hi all, first post!

We have CPO S500 W220 (2002), had a W140 before that. The S550 4matic is on our short list.

That said, if $$ is no barrier, AMG. If choosing between options, the rear seat package plus a couple of other options seems more suited for the car.

Also, ABC would seem to be a must if you get AMG, so add in another $4K.

I have the LE and would not do anything else to it on the exterior. The old S5550's needed the AMG kit for style. But the new S class, if you don't have the LE all you need to do is add some nice wheels. That's It!! No, Brabus, Lorinser, none of that, lowering the car and all that other stuff is cheesy for a car at this price and status.
