just ordered my S550

Hey guys

i just ordered a new Barolo Red S550. Since this was my first experience with MB, I need some help and suggestion from you guys.

I couldn't get more than $500 off MSRP. i will get the car by mid july as i requested since i won't be back to the US till that date (ie. till i get back from my honeymoon )

The question is about the availibility of some the options because i couldn't even find some of them on MBUSA.com-for example, the trunk closer. The salesman was not aware about most of them so he had to go every couple of minutes to ask his manager . What they've told me was that the trunk closer option is not availible anymore. is this true or ?

another issue is about the worthiness of the AMG package since i ordered the 19" 9-twin-spoke wheels. Do you think that i should stick with them or pay little more and get the AMG package?

I already paid the deposit to make an order for the car. However, they gave me 2 weeks to think about adding or removing some of the options.

your suggestions are more than welcome

The AMG package will give the car a sporty appearance, and IMO its worth the money. Did your salesman look it NetStar for the automatic trunk closer? i cant seem to recall the exact option code, but I know its there unless something has changed.

$500 for MSRP seems right since this car is the hottest thing in the market right now. I say go with the AMG package, you can't go wrong. Also order ABC suspension if you can since the car will just ride much better than the stock airmatic suspension.

All in all you have some nice options.

I have placed an order for a obsidian black with AMG pak, electronic trunk closer, keyless go, heated sterring wheel (new Jersey gets cold in the winter), and rear shades. I just spoke to my salesman two days ago and nothing for my build was not available.

I also for kicks called Greg from Glauser in colorado, he said cars on the ground at the dealership will be discounted at least 2K and if I place the order than 1500K and shipping to me was about 1K so I would save $500 and then deal with plates, and inspections which is not worth the trouble to me for $500.

food for thought

Gas Guzzler tax, dude that is gay. Here in NZ when I got my car it was 160 to register for the year all cars are considered the same. From a new 600 down to a lada.

AMG Package: Compared to your wheels, the AMG wheels are different--depends on what you like, look at the detail. The rest of the AMG package is cosmetic only, remember that. For my $$, get the ABC instead of AMG; performance > looks.

I don't understand why people don't get the rear seat package--it is a luxury sedan, not a coupe.

You should consider the premium one package--multi contour seats, etc., and Sirrius, this should be standard on this class of car.

Trunk closer: I used to think this was silly--not anymore. Is it a deal breaker? Your call.

Distronic plus: definitely worth getting over cosmetic option like wheels--it's factory and wheels can come later.

Wood steering wheel: looks pretty, but heated steering wheel is my choice--you don't have to live in the Artic to appreciate this option.

YMMV, enjoy your ride, I'm anxious for the 4matic to appear.

Deep Blue,

Find some pics of Nevada Jack's S550 - he has the AMG package and I think it speaks for itself.

This an S - so I would not go skimpy on the options. Get the trunk closer, ABC, Distronic Plus and whatever else one desires.

Enjoy the honeymoon.
