The local dealer here in Singapore has indeed confirmed the correctness of the frequently quoted part number for the iPod integration kit. Mine too is back ordered but for those in a similiar position I suggest playing home made MP3 dvds especially since blank dvd media now cost pennies.

This is what I have been doing, the capacity is staggering as each dvd holds aproximately 600 songs in MP3 format, and you will find they are beautifully arranged in folders within folders automatically if you use a Mac to make them as I do.

While I too anxiously await my iPod integration kit, I must say I do not feel too disadvantaged as far as adequacy of music is concerned with the option I mentioned above as a temporary measure.

Unfortunately I have no songs with Chinese titles, but when going through 'language options' in appropriate menus, I have not seen 'Chinese' as an option.

Well as of today it seem's that there is no definite answer, but my parts guy say's it is probably unlikely that you will be able to have both I-pod and RSE unless you go aftermarket with an aux splitter. If I get any new info I'll post it.

Hey guys, according to usually well informed sources (sam @ P3) Mercedes is working on an automatic iPod RSE audio switching solution. No part number or date is available yet. It should first appear on the X164, and lateron on other models.

Here's a direct link, not sure of it will work...

You will also not get phonebook download but since you have/will get voice command, it may not be a big deal for you.

I've heard reports that the new Treo 700w has more stabile Bluetooth operation than the 650 so you might also want to give it a try before ditching the BT idea.
Check out this post. Dude knows what he's talking about.

What's the price?

I was told to use the PCMCIA slot for all my MP3 desires.

Anybody know differently.
That's crazy since the ipod integration was heavily advertised on the official Mercedes S-class website with a demo and everything on how the technology would work with your steering wheel controls.

I have some good news - and it's not that I saved a bunch of money by switching to Geico. My regional contact at MBUSA passed my inquiry along to an S product manager in the head office (NJ). That manager consulted with their in house techs as well as the folks over in Germany and both confirmed that the you will be able to have both the iPod integration kit as well as RSE on the W221 at the same time (once both options are officially available here, of course). Apparently, the new S' COMAND unit can accept both and you'll choose the separate inputs on the COMAND system with something like "Rear" for the RSE and "Aux" for the iPod Kit. That's very good news for me.

Somebody must, based on some of your replies.
Fess up.
